Happy New Year!
Have you made resolutions or set your business, professional and personal goals for the year yet?
As someone who loves self-improvement books and podcasts, I’m on the hunt for better ways to do just about everything all year long. When January rolls around, I take the best ideas and turn them into goals.
Last year I made a resolution to start a daily meditation practice after reading so much about it. I got a good app and started my streak sometime in February. Now I’ve meditated over 300 days in a row!
Achieving professional and business goals are more often a team sport.
Working with others expands our networks while building the experience, skills, and confidence that are necessary to get that promotion, hit the stretch sales target or develop a new business from the ground up.
And that’s where BPW can be a resource to help achieve your 2023 goals.
- If you have a goal around attracting new business, consider email advertising to our list of almost 500 active local contacts in the Upper Keys. Or sponsor one of our monthly events to get your work noticed.
- If you want to find a new job (or employee), our events are full of people who know people up and down the Keys. We’re also currently road-testing a Job Board feature to help spread the word about open positions.
- Want to add a certification or make progress on your degree? Our Women’s Scholarship Program will be open for the next cycle of applications in April.
- If your goals include advocating for women's equity or getting leadership experience under your belt, raise your hand for one of our Upper Key BPW committees or a Board position. Or just come to a meeting to check it out!
- And finally if you have a resolution to get out there and have fun, we’ll have some casual opportunities to meet up. How about a movie or joining fellow BPW members to do the Garden Walk in February?
You'll find specific opportunities to make progress in all of these areas in this newsletter -- starting with our January 18 Luncheon on the important topic of mental health. It’s sometime said that if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together. Let’s make 2023 a year that we go far together in BPW!

February 18 Garden Walk Meet-up
10 am -- Tavernier
Join your fellow BPW members for the Garden Walk on Saturday, 2/18. We will meet at the Upper Keys Garden Club and caravan to enjoy the walk together, including the home of a BPW member whose garden was selected for this year's event! This is a drop-in, 'buy your own ticket' event. Watch the website and your email for more details.

Thanks to everyone who came out for our Holiday Party in Key Largo on December 21!
Beyond the lovely location (thanks Dr. T!), yummy food, festive outfits and fun ornament exchange, it was a real celebration of what the Upper Keys BPW is all about - friendship, connection, professional and personal development, and support for the working women of the Upper Keys.

Join a committee, sit in on the Board If you would like to get more involved with Upper Keys BPW, consider joining or chairing a committee! Or come to a Board meeting to learn more about what we do. It's a wonderful way to meet other members, contribute to the community and make the most of your membership.

Learn and Lead with BPW/FL members
BPW/FL is offering virtual local organization leadership training sessions for anyone currently in a leadership role, considering a leadership role in the future or just interested in learning more about BPW. Leadership encompasses officers, committee chairs and special event chairs.
The first session was held on 1/10 and a recording will be available soon. For more information and to register for the remaining sessions on 2/8 and 3/14 at 6:00-7:30 pm, please visit https://www.bpwfl.org/ and log in as a Member.
